Community Projects

Building infrastructure for financial sovereignty and digital independence. These projects serve the Bitcoin and cypherpunk communities in Barcelona and beyond.

All services are provided freely. Donations gratefully accepted but never required.

Barcelona Bitcoin Only

Restarted in 2022 | Website | Meetup

Monthly meetups for Bitcoin-only discussions, education, and community building in Barcelona. No shitcoins, no noise—just signal.

The story of why and how this was restarted deserves its own post. Coming soon.

Barcelona Cyphers Conference

Organized in 2025 with two friends. An event bringing together cypherpunks, Bitcoin builders, and sovereign minds.

Our friend Şela wrote an excellent summary: BCC8333: Cypherpunks and Sovereign Minds

This conference embodied the intersection of cryptography, freedom technology, and community resilience. Maybe next edition for next halving.

Philosophy

These projects exist because infrastructure for freedom shouldn’t be locked behind paywalls or corporate control.

Everything runs on self-hosted infrastructure. Nothing depends on third-party services that could disappear or change terms.

Operating costs: Covered personally or through community donations.

Business model: There isn’t one. This is public infrastructure.

Support: Donations welcome but never required.

Donations to Barcelona Bitcoin Only make me as happy as receiving them personally—they go toward building better community infrastructure.

Technical Stack

Curious about how these services run?

  • Hosting: Self-hosted on Proxmox cluster
  • Network: pfSense firewall with proper segmentation
  • Payments: BTCPay Server (self-hosted)
  • Bitcoin nodes: Bitcoin Core + Fulcrum
  • Monitoring: Prometheus + Grafana
  • Backups: Encrypted, redundant, off-site

Detailed implementation guides for each project coming in individual posts.

Get Involved

Use the services: That’s why they exist.

Run your own: Even better. Decentralization matters.

Join the community: Come to Barcelona Bitcoin Only meetups or reach out via the About page.

Contribute: Technical contributions, documentation improvements, and community building always welcome.

“Cypherpunks write code. We know that someone has to write software to defend privacy, and since we can’t get privacy unless we all do, we’re going to write it.”

— Eric Hughes, A Cypherpunk’s Manifesto
